Gordon M. Huckins, Huckins Farm, New Hampton, NH. Gordon Huckins was a long-time supporter of The Big E, bringing his herd of Guernsey cows and his family to participate in the show each year. While he loved exhibiting his cows and leading them into the winner's circle, he also enjoyed the social aspect of the show.
Gordon grew up on the family farm and worked alongside his father before and after school. After high school he attended Cornell University, receiving a degree in Animal Husbandry. Although his career was in farming, his passion was in acquiring and breeding the finest show herd of Guernsey cows.
Over the years he received All American awards and nominations as a result of his success at local shows, The Big E and national shows in Madison, WI.; Louisville, KY.; and Harrisburg, PA. Gordon was a 4-H leader, dairy judge, and quiz bowl coach, chaperoning youth several times to Madison, WI, and Louisville, KY.
Gordon is best remembered for his sense of humor, his love for his family and friends, and his outgoing, down-to-earth ability to meet people and engage them in conversation.
