Carrie Chickering-Sears of South Deerfield, MA, with husband David and daughter Ashley, operates Indian Acres Farm and bred Indian Acres MM Pistachio Pie, the 2007 Supreme Champion at the All-American Dairy Show, Premier National Junior Show and World Dairy Expo. Sears is the State 4-H Animal Specialist at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She has owned 64 All Americana and Jr. All American nominations. She served as the associate and lead judge of the Guernsey show at World Dairy Expo, was a Guernsey official for the Hoard's Dairyman judging contest, and has judged at the Pennsylvania All American, The Big E, and North American Livestock Show, and served on the All-American selection panel for Ayrshires, Guernseys, Milking Shorthorns and Red & Whites. In 2012, Sears also served as the junior division judge for the All-American Showmanship Contest.
Growing up, Sears was actively involved in the Massachusetts 4-H Dairy program and participated in the New England 4-H Dairy Show at The Big E. During her 4-H tenure, she claimed top honors in both the showmanship and breed competitions with her Guernsey cattle. Sears has exhibited Brown Swiss, Guernseys and Holsteins in the Open competitions at The Big E. She has garnered Grand and Junior Champion honors in the Guernsey breed on several occasions. Her passion for exhibiting cattle at The Big E complements her work for UMass Extension, as she helps to organize and oversee the 4-H Youth delegation that attends the annual New England 4-H Dairy Show.
